The following is a guest post from Ushahidi community member Kennedy Kasina.
It was my first time at an Ushahidi community meetup, let alone even my first time to meet face to face with some developers. More like a D-day for me :)

Besides the food, on the menu was also discussion on growing and furthering the community here Kenya as well as exploring some of the release features. Also users views on the Ushahidi platform as a whole and feedback as well.
In my view, without a user, a tool is just as good as a waste of time. Hence I really appreciate all the users that came by to show their support and give feedback and feature requests. Its a motivation to the developer community.
As for the developers, I can say I'm privileged to have met and now to be working amongst the gurus of the code. People who do it for the passion and produce such a world class tool that is aiding in alot of scenarios.
The Ushahidi platform does have a future and a way but its only we the community that can dictate that future, shape that future, and build towards that future. Lets lead the way.
