The International Crisis Mappers Conference (ICCM), is October 11 - 14, 2012 in Washington DC. The unique event, co-founded by Patrick Meier and Jen Ziemke in 2009, provides a forum for humanitarian, human rights, development and media organizations with world's best technology companies, academics, journalists and hackers. Over 400 participants attended last year's event in Geneva.
ICCM unites the CrisisMappers Community for the annual event. The Crisis Mappers Network has an active mailing list as well as NING website full of videos and other valuable information. ICCM is hosted by the World Bank:Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery and George Washington University School of Media and Public Affairs. Ushahidi proudly sponsors ICCM with ESRI, and GeoEye.
"The annual CrisisMappers conference is the leading international event dedicated to advancing the study and practice of humanitarian technology worldwide. We believe that sharing best practices and lessons learned across organizations and multiple areas of expertise catalyzes the partnerships necessary to develop next-generation humanitarian technology solutions that save lives." "The Crisis Mappers conference is back by popular demand. What was originally meant to be a one-off event has turned into an annual meeting of the minds. The conference is a neutral place for people to share ideas, projects, and lessons learned. To increase the number of serendipitous encounters, coffee breaks and dine-arounds help you make new connections. Much of the work and fun continues at after-hours establishments. The ICCM acts as an accelerant for innovation in this space." Jen Ziemke, co-founder Crisis Mappers Network
